The new Childcare Centre for Cloughjordan First Steps Childcare centre are delighted to announce the opening of our new Creche. The architect-designed, purpose-built facility is located at the site of the former Macra Hall on Lower Main Street, Cloughjordan and has been funded by a grant from the Department of Children. First Steps We offer part time crèche and preschool service at present and hope to offer full time and afterschool service in the near future. We cater for children aged 12 months to 12 years. Our opening hours at present are 8am – 2pm Monday to Friday. Our outdoor play area has a foam based covering suitable for all ages to play on.
First Steps has been approved for the COMMUNITY CHILDCARE SUBVENTION SCHEME from January 2010. This means that places are available at a subsidised rate to lower income families. All cases are individually assessed confidentially and the decision is made by the OMYCA. Anyone who requires information on subvention should contact First Steps on the number provided. The ECCE FREE PRESHOOL YEAR started in January 2010 and offers children aged 3 years 3 months to 4 years 7 months a preschool place for 3 hours per day 5 days per week. Any additional time is optional and billed by the preschool to the parent. Only one preschool year is given per child so the next full year will start in September 2010 to June 2011. A place will not be given for a portion of each school year and any time missed cannot be added on. Families who qualify for both subvention and free preschool will have to choose which scheme is more beneficial to them. Subvention will require some payment but free preschool does not provided the place is for 3 hours per day only.
