Cloughjordan in Autumn

St. Kieran’s Church, Cloughjordan
(Anglican/Church of Ireland)

St Kierans CoI church Cloughjordan

The Church was built in 1830 and consecrated for worship in 1837. Its most notable feature is the tall narrow spire which can be seen for miles around. It is centrally located on the village green.  A major reordering of the interior took place in 1992 and local Cloughjordan liturgical artist Fergus Costello designed and crafted the furnishings which feature extensive use of bog oak. The church was dedicated to St. Kieran following the renovations, this being the dedication of the mother church of the parish, Modreeny, now closed.
